Ben Shively
Benjamin Shively is a music educator and choral conductor from Kansas City, Missouri. He holds a Bachelor of Music in Education from the University of Missouri - Kansas City Conservatory of Music & Dance.
In his work as Choir Director at Rodeo Palms Junior High School in Houston, Texas, Ben earned recognition as 2021-2022 Teacher of the Year on his campus, and was nominated for Alvin Independent School District Secondary Teacher of the Year. He is currently pursuing a Master of Music in Choral Conducting at Westminster Choir College, where he serves as a graduate assistant for Dr. James Jordan.
A sought-after clinician, coach, and voice instructor in the Houston area, Ben has recently worked with Space City Sound, the Houston Tidelanders, the Spring Statesmen, and other local ensembles, as well as numerous ensembles across the country as a Singing Judge for the Barbershop Harmony Society. He has also presented at several workshops and educational events, teaching courses covering vocal techniques, vocal health, choral pedagogy, and strategies for partnership between community ensembles and their local school music programs.
In addition to directing the pit orchestra for Cornerstoneโs CCAP: Music & Theatre Arts Camp, Ben is Conducting Intern with the New Jersey Master Chorale, and also serves as tenor section leader at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Newtown, PA.
